Kaohsiung holds The 2009 World Games; and during its preparations has also focused
on applications of high-technology environment industry. Two such applications
include the free Water-Fuel shuttle buses and Kaohsiung World Games main sports
arena with its innovative Solar Panel roof to generate electric power which highlights
a green construction trade. Eco-experts emphasized that the development of environment
technology is the main research target for most countries. While many countries
develop economic, they can reduce the impact to the environment and industry.
The Circular Line 168 went into service before The 2009 World Games, and runs
in a route along the Red and Orange MRT Lines (bus line runs 24Kms and includes
30 bus stations). If you are on a Water-Fuel Bus, it means you are responsible
to be environment friendly. The most amazing feature of this Water-Fuel bus is
that its fuel is supplemented by water. Kaohsiung is the first city to use Water-Fuel
buses in Taiwan. The Kaohsiung City Government estimates that it can reduce CO2
emissions annually by 3000 ton, and fuel consumption by more than 20%. Kaohsiung
Transportation Bureau Director Wang, Kwo-Tsai said, “We hope using oxy-hydrogen
fuel to support combustion- in order to reduce emissions to the lowest CO2. While
the World Games are in progress, 10~15 additional Water-Fuel buses will be added
into service for the public. The inventor of the system used in the Water-Fuel
Bus, Epoch President Mr. Jacky Lin, said that the concept behind this technology
is renewable energy, since the water is changed into oxygen-hydrogen gas, which
produces water again when it is burned in the engine. Water…into fuel…and recycled
back into water.
